12A means that anyone aged 12 or over can go and see the
film unaccompanied. The A stands for 'accompanied' and 'advisory'. Children
younger than 12 may see the film if they are accompanied by an adult (e.g.
someone over the age of 18), who must watch the film with them.
The 12 certificate is just for videos, DVDs and Blu-rays.
12A is for films at the cinema only.
The rating is 12A because in some parts of our film it will
contain some violence which may harm the children by making them upset which is
why an adult is recommended to stay and watch with them. Which is why parents
would need to be there to decide whether it is suitable or not for them to
watch. An example of a 12A film is hunger game.
The reason why our film is 12A and not PG is because there
will be some sort of violence but not so much but it is best to be 12A so that
and adult is there to comfort the child if feeling scared or sad. The problem
with PG is that a parent can decide whether they can watch but may not watch
the film with them if they are feeling sad or scared.
